Pipeline Public Awareness Program, Customized, Ready to Use: $575

In May 2005, the Department of Transportation (DOT) issued a new federal rule on industry pipeline public awareness programs. The pipeline public awareness rule was based on a Recommended Practice (API RP 1162) that was developed by a task force of state pipeline safety representatives, federal pipeline safety regulators, natural gas pipeline operators and liquid pipeline operators.

The new rule on pipeline public awareness programs will help the public and pipeline operators to make information on pipelines more accessible, easier to understand and consistent across the pipeline industry. The rule establishes guidelines for the information that must be presented to the public, including customers, residents along the pipeline, emergency responders, local public officials and excavators.

According to DOT, “Operators must be prepared to submit for review their completed programs to the Secretary of Transportation or, in the case of an intrastate pipeline facility operator, the appropriate State agency, no later than 12 months following the publication date of the rule.” (Publication date was May 19th, 2005.)

AYUDA has developed this resource for you to use to help fulfill the requirements in the new Pipeline Public Awareness Rule.
